Welcome to the City of Olney homepage. Olney’s location in North Central Texas simply can’t be beat. We are well within driving distance to DFW to the Southeast, Abilene to the Southwest, and Wichita Falls to the North. At the same time, we are just far enough away from the cities to offer a genuine, Texas small town atmosphere. Olney is home to approximately 3,300 Texans, but our community doesn’t stop at the City Limits sign. Our neighborhood extends for miles in every direction.

Small towns across the state are shrinking rapidly, but Olney is holding strong thanks to our economy and resources. We are home to agricultural and oil development business, like most small towns, but Olney boasts a thriving industry sector as well. We are lucky enough to have our own proprietary lake for drinking water and recreation, as well as local telephone and electricity Co-ops. If you have a problem with your utilities, you can rest assured that it will get fixed because those people call Olney home too.

Olney’s Independent School District is one of the best small town schools in the area. With new facilities and excellent teachers, OISD gives the community that special feeling that is Cub Pride. Olney is also home to Hamilton Hospital. Established in 1908, Hamilton Hospital has thrived when other rural clinics have faded. Hamilton Hospital is nearing completion of a new clinic that will further expand our healthcare abilities.

Of course, the hunting and fishing around Olney is wonderful. From White Tail to Blue Gill, if there’s something that you’ve got an itch for, our surrounding land can provide it.

Whether you’re in town visiting family or just passing through, we invite you to stop, take a break, and enjoy one of the last, true Texas small towns. Our greatest resource is our people, and we’d love to shake your hand.
